Lee County soon to turn trash pickup over to Waste Management

SUMMARY: Lee County in Mississippi will be outsourcing its trash pickup to Waste Management. The decision was made after the Board of Supervisors President refused to sign the contract and recused himself from the final vote. Waste Management was chosen because of the increasing costs of maintaining equipment and multiple burglaries of county-owned trucks. The Vice President of the Board stated that Waste Management offers employment opportunities with benefits such as a 401K and stock options. Waste Management will take over the trash pickup in Lee County by November.

Suspects wanted after deadly officer-involved shooting in McComb
