Leaders in Winona will discuss a school budget that could raise taxes

SUMMARY: The Wiona Montgomery Consolidated School District plans to hold a public hearing on its 2025 fiscal year budget, allowing community input. The meeting will discuss a proposed increase in the ad valorem tax, which currently contributes 8% to the district’s $20 million budget; the new proposal aims to raise this to 15%. This increase could result in higher taxes on homes, car tax, business fixtures, equipment, and rental property. The hearing is scheduled for June 18th at 10 AM at Wiona Secondary School’s Wolf Lab. Community members are encouraged to attend and share their opinions on the proposed budget.

The meeting will happen June 18 at 10 a.m.
