LCSO warns of scammers claiming to be law enforcement
SUMMARY: The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department is warning residents about a scam in which scammers falsely claim to be law enforcement and call people, telling them that they have outstanding warrants and must make electronic payments or provide credit card information to avoid being arrested. The scammers have been using local numbers and the names of retired judges and fake employees, and they even have personal information about their victims. The Sheriff’s Office does not make these kinds of calls, and residents are advised not to give out personal information over the phone and to contact the Criminal Investigations Division if they receive a call like this.

SUMMARY: A Delta Air Lines flight from Minneapolis to Toronto flipped over while landing at Pearson Airport on February 17, 2025.
