LCBS withdraws pledge of support for Columbus clean-up program
SUMMARY: The Lowndes County Board of Supervisors is withdrawing their $350,000 pledge of financial support for a Columbus clean-up program. This decision was made because city leaders did not update them on how the money would be spent or the progress of the program. The county has identified more immediate needs in their budget, such as the condition of trucks in the road department, which is a higher priority. The county has already allocated $450,000 of its ARPA money to the city for watershed and drainage projects. This shift in funding is due to the pressing needs of the county that require immediate attention.
