Laurel garden club gets grants for park improvements

SUMMARY: The Northwood Garden Club in Laurel is implementing several improvements, with president Lee Caver highlighting the park’s transformation since oak trees were planted nearly 75 years ago. The club recently received five totaling $5,500 from and National Garden clubs, the Council of Garden Clubs of Laurel and Jones County. These funds have professional planning and the enhancement of flower beds, focusing on native pollinators. Added features include park benches, a bridge, and signage. The nine Jones County Garden clubs are also working on projects to improve Euclid, Gardner, and Mason Park, with plans to complete them this year.

Grant money is helping parks in Jones County with beautification efforts.
