Lauderdale man sentenced for threatening school shooting, violence against Black people

SUMMARY: Christian Blake Bunyard from Lauderdale County has been to over three years in federal prison for hate crimes and threats made via Snapchat. In May and July 2020, the 21-year-old threatened a school shooting, violence against Black individuals in Oxford, and demanded nude photos from a user with threats of rape. after a November 2020 federal grand jury indictment, Bunyard pled guilty in April 2021 to charges related to interstate threats and extortionate communication. The FBI and Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department conducted the investigation with Assistant U.S. Attorney Kimberly T. Purdie prosecuting the case.
