SUMMARY: Cancer remains a significant challenge in Kentucky, which has the highest rate of new cancers and the second-highest cancer death rates in the U.S. A recent comprehensive Kentucky Cancer Action Plan outlines strategies to prevent and treat cancer, with over 120 partner organizations collaborating, including healthcare providers and community stakeholders. The plan aims to reduce cancer incidence, improve early detection and treatment, and address childhood cancer among other areas. Since the first action plan in 2001, substantial progress has been made, and the plan will be updated in 2030 to continue addressing this critical public health issue.

The Kentucky Cancer Consortium recently published a comprehensive plan to reduce the cancer burden in the Commonwealth by 2030.

SUMMARY: This morning’s radar shows moderate to heavy snow mainly east of I-75, affecting areas like Fleming, Bath, and Wolfe counties, with visibility dropping to half a mile in some locations. Eastern Kentucky could receive 1 to 2 inches, particularly in higher elevations. Most roads are wet, but icy spots may develop on bridges and overpasses as temperatures drop near freezing. While snowfall is tapering in Central Kentucky, scattered squalls and snow showers are expected this afternoon. Tomorrow will bring sunshine with temperatures reaching the mid-30s, and warmer weather is anticipated by Saturday, with some rain chances returning.

Oh the weather outside is frightful!
While most of Kentucky may only see a trace amount to a coating, eastern Kentucky may get over an inch of powder as this snow system works its way across the Bluegrass.
