Lake Worth suspect calls 911: ‘I’m sitting near Walmart with an explosive and I’m armed’
SUMMARY: Last week, a bomb scare in Lake Worth prompted a swift response from police after a man, Donald Mark Scott, reported having explosives while inside a Walmart. Scott, recently released from prison, intended to return by making a terroristic threat, which led to local, state, and federal agencies tracking him. He abandoned two suspicious backpacks filled with tools and electronic devices. Fortunately, neither bag posed a real explosion threat. Scott was apprehended without incident and is now in custody at the county jail with his combined bond set at $55,000. His actions stemmed from a desire to return to prison.

The man who allegedly left two suspicious items near Lake Worth businesses last week called 911 to report himself and “hurry things along.”

Measles: Texas child dies from virus | FOX 7 Austin
SUMMARY: Texas has reported its first measles-related death this year amid a significant outbreak in the South Plains region, with 124 cases reported—the highest in over a decade. Most infections are concentrated in Gaines County, which has a large unvaccinated Mennonite community. Health officials emphasize that the spread can be contained through vaccination, noting that the measles vaccine provides 97% lifetime immunity. Currently, around 20 patients are hospitalized, mostly for care rather than quarantine. Additional cases have emerged in New Mexico and other states, prompting health authorities to monitor potential exposure at universities.

Texas is reporting its first death in this year’s measles outbreak. According to the CDC, it is also the first measles death in the US since 2015.
