Hundreds of street racers arrested by Nashville police
SUMMARY: Street takeovers and high-speed racing are increasingly frequent in Nashville, prompting the Metro Police Department to launch a Street Racer Enforcement Initiative in 2020. Since early 2023, there have been 47 arrests related to these dangerous activities, which can lead to severe injuries and property damage. In the past year, four fatalities were reported due to street racing incidents. To combat this issue, Tennessee has enacted a new bill targeting street racing, inspired by the tragic death of 34-year-old Jack Barnhart.
