Former Dallas Uber driver arrested for punching elderly passenger on video
SUMMARY: Dallas police arrested 41-year-old Willie Williams, a former Uber driver, for assaulting 68-year-old passenger Solomon Gaba after a dispute over legroom. The incident occurred on October 2, 2023, when Gaba complained, leading to an argument before Williams allegedly punched him from behind, knocking him to the ground. Surveillance footage captured the attack. Williams, who has a prior assault conviction, was arrested at a hookah lounge eight days later. He has been charged with assault causing injury to the elderly and is currently in jail with a $5,000 bond. Uber has since deactivated his account.
A former Uber driver was arrested after video shows him punching an elderly passenger who canceled his ride. Police say he has a previous assault conviction.
