KPRC 2 getting one step closer to answers from CenterPoint Energy's response to derecho, Beryl
SUMMARY: Nearly three months after Hurricane Barrel left over 2 million CenterPoint customers without power, regulators are seeking public feedback on the utility’s performance. It took CenterPoint over 10 days to restore electricity, raising safety concerns as heat-related deaths were reported. The Public Utility Commission (PUC) has received 15,000 complaints and will hold a meeting this Saturday for residents to voice their opinions. CenterPoint is also requesting to withdraw from a rate review amidst claims of overcharging customers by over $100 million annually. CenterPoint’s CEO will participate in an exclusive interview today to address these issues and future plans.
The Texas PUC will be hearing directly from Houston residents on how CenterPoint Energy handled restoring power to millions of customers during the derecho and Hurricane Beryl.

Election 2024: Eric Holder vs three Texas Supreme Court justices | Texas
SUMMARY: Eric Holder, the first U.S. attorney general held in contempt by Congress, is targeting Republican justices on the Texas Supreme Court, alleging they are biased. Holder, supported by prominent Democrats, established the National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC) in 2017 to shift redistricting power away from Republicans. He’s endorsing challengers to three incumbent justices in the upcoming election. Holder claims the Texas Supreme Court’s conservative majority has harmed the public, while his critics argue he seeks partisan judges. Justice Jimmy Blacklock contends that judges should follow the law impartially, not serve political agendas, rejecting Holder’s claims of bias within the judicial system.
