KPD: Tractor-trailer crash knocks over utility pole on I-40 East near I-640 split
SUMMARY: This afternoon, all eastbound lanes of Interstate 40 are closed between Asheville Highway and 640 due to a tractor trailer colliding with a light pole. The downed pole is blocking all eastbound lanes and partially obstructing one or two lanes of westbound traffic. This situation has created significant delays and a messy traffic scenario. Motorists are advised to exercise caution and seek alternative routes if possible.
All lanes are blocked on I-40 East at the I-640 split near Asheville Highway. TDOT said all lanes would be closed temporarily.

Runners finishing Alyssa Lokits's run

Waverly helps East TN flood victims
SUMMARY: The Waverly community is rallying to assist East Tennessee hurricane victims, a cause close to their hearts after experiencing their own tragedy in 2021 when 20 residents lost their lives during floods. Waverly Cash Saver is currently gathering its second major donation, focusing on cold weather gear such as blankets, jackets, and children‘s books. Owners plan to deliver the donations to Johnson County, having previously sent 80 grills and 100 camping chairs. Co-owner John Curtis emphasized the importance of giving back, recalling the support Waverly received during its recovery. Additionally, FEMA has approved over $16.8 million in assistance for affected households.
