GOP governors warn of ag challenges if new farm bill not passed | National
SUMMARY: A group of 17 Republican governors has sent a letter to congressional leaders warning that delayed reforms and inflation are pushing farmers to their limits. They highlight significant cost increases in fuel, fertilizer, and feed, as the 2018 Farm Bill is set to expire after September 30, 2024. The governors stress that an extension of the outdated 2018 Farm Bill won’t address current needs, emphasizing agriculture’s role in national security. U.S. Sen. Roger Marshall criticized Senate Democrats for abandoning bipartisan negotiations, while Congress weighs a one-year extension versus a new Farm Bill that addresses evolving agricultural challenges.
