SUMMARY: Kentucky lawmakers have prioritized exceptions to the state’s abortion ban as the 2025 legislative session begins. Senator David Yates and Representative Ken Fleming are refiling bills to allow abortions in cases of rape or incest, alongside proposed mental health support for affected individuals and their families. Another key proposal is Senate Bill 67, which aims to exempt homeowners aged 65 and older from property tax increases to ease their financial burden. Legislators plan to address various issues, including crime and cannabis, in the 30-day session, reconvening on February 4th. Their goal is to advance legislation for a progressive Kentucky.
