Kamala Harris & Donald Trump each continue campaigns
SUMMARY: Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump campaigned over the weekend with the election just three months away. Trump, facing unfavorable poll results, intensified his attacks on Harris during events in Florida and Minnesota, calling her “evil” and disqualifying due to her handling of border issues. In response, Harris criticized Trump’s claims as “wild lies” and suggested he was the true “bum.” Allies of Harris also defended her, highlighting Trump’s hypocrisy. Polls indicate Harris enjoys higher favorability among voters compared to Trump, setting a contentious tone leading into the upcoming election.

Carbon monoxide risks rise in cold weather
SUMMARY: As freezing temperatures and wintry conditions grip much of the US, the Consumer Product Safety Commission warns that carbon monoxide poisoning risks rise during this time. Carbon monoxide, an invisible and odorless gas, can be deadly if not managed properly. The CDC advises installing alarms, inspecting fuel-burning appliances annually, and never using portable generators indoors. The gas poses a higher risk to infants, older adults, and people with heart or breathing issues. Symptoms of poisoning include headache, dizziness, and confusion. If suspected, immediately get fresh air and call 911. In 2023, about 100 people died from carbon monoxide poisoning linked to generators.

Arkansas Supreme Court justices remain at odds | What we know
SUMMARY: THV11 Plus news coverage highlights tensions within the Arkansas Supreme Court, following newly elected Chief Justice Karen Baker’s controversial decisions since her swearing-in on January 1st. During a heated three-hour meeting, other justices expressed dissatisfaction with Baker’s unilateral actions, including live-streaming the meeting without broader notification, which they deemed inappropriate. Disagreements center around the interpretation of Amendment 80 regarding the Chief Justice’s powers, with Baker asserting she can take charge, while others argue she should only implement existing policies. The discord has been labeled an embarrassment for the state, with calls for more private discussions instead of public confrontations.
Newly-elected Chief Justice Karen Baker and her colleagues have been at odds since the first moments after her Jan. 1 swearing in.
