JXN water could soon cut off water service over unpaid bills
SUMMARY: JXN Water in Jackson, Mississippi, has announced that it will begin cutting off water service to customers who have not paid their bills. Currently, nearly half of the company’s customers are not paying at all. Although there is no specific date for the cutoffs, they are expected to start sometime in the fall. JXN Water is offering payment plans to assist those who cannot pay their full bill upfront. The money collected from the water bills will be used to improve the water system and make repairs. JXN Water still has approximately 7,500 meters left to install throughout the city.

One killed, three injured during Rankin County crash
SUMMARY: A crash in Rankin County, Mississippi, resulted in one fatality and three injuries on Saturday, November 16. The incident occurred on U.S. 49 North near Star Road at around 6:15 p.m., involving a 2000 Grand Pontiac and a 2024 Hyundai. Ashley Holloman, a passenger in the Pontiac, was pronounced dead at the scene. The drivers and another passenger in the Hyundai were transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center for unknown injuries. The Mississippi Highway Patrol is currently investigating the accident.

Pedestrian killed during hit-and-run in Jackson
