'Justice for Kendrick Johnson': Georgia teen found dead in gym mat 10+ years ago | FOX 5 News
SUMMARY: The family of Kendrick Johnson, a Valdosta teen who was found dead at school over ten years ago, continues advocating for justice. Activists from Israel United in Christ gathered in Atlanta to demand accountability, as law enforcement has labeled Johnson’s death an accident. Found in an upright gym mat in January 2013, his family disputes the official investigation, believing he was murdered. They filed a federal lawsuit against the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and local sheriff’s office, seeking the court of appeals to review evidence they claim indicates Johnson did not die as reported. The family describes the law enforcement response as a cover-up.
It’s been over 10 years since Kendrick Johnson, a Valdosta teen, was found dead in a rolled up gym mat. While officials ruled it an accident, his family believes someone killed him. Hundreds of people from Israel United in Christ marched in Atlanta in his honor on August 3, 2024.

Apalachee shooter's mom called school before shooting: Washington Post says | FOX 5 News
SUMMARY: Ariel Onot from Fox 5 news reports on the tragic school shooting at Appalache High School. The Washington Post revealed that the accused shooter’s mother warned school staff just minutes before the incident, urging them to find her son after he discussed a potential shooting. A school counselor spoke with her about half an hour prior, but confusion arose due to another student with a similar name. As a result, the school official mistakenly left with the wrong backpack. Neither the suspect nor the other student was present when the shooting occurred. Fox 5 Atlanta is working to confirm these details.
An exclusive report from the Washington Post says that the mother of Colt Gray, accused of a mass shooting at Apalachee High School, called the school the morning of the shooting.
