Thursday 10PM Tropical Update: Watching two areas of development
SUMMARY: Despite it typically being the end of the tropical season, models are indicating potential development in two areas. However, even if these systems move into the Gulf, significant impacts are unlikely. November conditions in the Gulf of Mexico differ greatly from August and September, with cooler water temperatures, dry air, and strong wind shear present. Therefore, there is currently not much concern regarding the formation of tropical systems in this region.
Chief meteorologist Chris Franklin says we’re watching two areas for possible development in the tropics.
