Juleps & Jazz Brunch held in Jackson
SUMMARY: The Beta Delta Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated is celebrating 90 years of sisterhood, scholarship, and community service. They hosted their inaugural “Jewels and Jazz: A Pearl From Our Branch” brunch, a unique fundraiser aimed at supporting their community efforts throughout the year. The event featured Southern cuisine, live music, a vendor market, and trendy fashions. Funds raised will support scholarships, HBCU donations, Habitat for Humanity, and other community services. The chapter has been serving the Metro Jackson area for 90 years and plans a public celebration at Jackson State University in June.

Ex-boyfriend killed after breaking into Petal woman’s home, police say
SUMMARY: Breaking news out of Ped: police are investigating an early morning homicide. Chief Matthew Hyatt reported that officers responded to a call from West 10th Avenue at 3:14 AM Friday. A woman reported her ex-boyfriend was banging on her door before forcing his way in. A second man in the home fired a gun, striking the intruder. The man was rushed to a local hospital but later died. Names are withheld pending family notification, and no arrests have been made.

Corey Dickerson takes over JA Raiders baseball
