Founded by Mary Kitchens, the camp aims to provide a worry-free, week-long camping experience for special needs kids in Mississippi. Planning began in 2007, and after starting construction in 2018, the camp welcomed its first campers this week. Director Bridget highlights the joy and sense of belonging the camp offers the children. Inspired by other states' facilities, Kitchens toured 14 locations to conceptualize Camp Kamasa. The camp is set to fully open in 2025. Jaylen Anderson from 12 News was present to document the impactful experience.

SUMMARY: The Jackson Academy Raiders secured the MA Overall Title in March for the first time since 2006, led by brothers Mike and Mason Williams. Mike led the team with 18 points per game, also topping rebounds and steals, while Mason was second in scoring and rebounding. Both are transferring to Germantown High School, where they'll join top national player Sam Funches and Mikey Johnson, son of JSU Assistant Coach Trey Johnson, who transferred from Vicksburg. These additions position the Germantown Mavericks as strong contenders in the 7A division this upcoming season.

Mike and Mason Williams, who starred at Jackson Academy, are now transferring to Germantown High School. The two brothers and sons of JSU head basketball coach and NBA Champion Mo Williams led JA to a 36-1 record and their first overall MAIS title since 2006 this past season. Now they will join one of the top players in the country in the 2026 class in Sam Funchess at Germantown. Robert Wilson of Mississippi Scoreboard is also reporting that the son of JSU assistant coach Trey Johnson, Mikey, is also at Germantown after transferring from Vicksburg. With these additions Germantown becomes a legit contender for the 7A crown this upcoming season.

SUMMARY: Many cities are preparing to celebrate the Fourth of July, including Saltillo. The Saltillo city and the Saltillo Main Street Association will host a party at the city park this Thursday. Events include a children's and pets parade at 3 PM, followed by live music starting at 4 PM with performances by Brady and Cal, Tony Bane and Tow Jam Football, Carly and Hannah, Ryan Lad, and Jason Childers. Fireworks will cap off the evening at 9 PM. There will be festivities for people of all ages.
