Judge rejects Robinson family’s suit against settlement with Jackson

SUMMARY: A Hinds County judge dismissed the legal objection by George Robinson’s family against a $17,000 settlement with the City of Jackson. Robinson’s sister, Bettersten Wade, sued the city, claiming Robinson died in 2019 due to an assault by former Jackson police officer Anthony Fox after a traffic stop. Robinson, 62, was recovering from a stroke and died from brain bleeding two days later. Despite Robinson’s family’s rejection of the settlement, the judge affirmed its legality. Fox was initially convicted and sentenced in 2022 but had his conviction overturned in January 2024, and was rehired as a Clinton K9 narcotics detective.
