JTRAN will offer free rides until end of September
SUMMARY: JTRAN, the transit service in Jackson, Mississippi, will provide free rides until September 2024, as announced by Mayor Chokwe A. Lumumba. This decision follows a recent nearly two-week strike by the local Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU), which raised safety concerns that led to the suspension of services on September 4. JTRAN has now resumed operations, managed by MV Transportation since January 2024. The free rides initiative aims to enhance accessibility for the community after the challenges posed by the strike and service disruptions.

In the tropics, another system between Africa and the Cabo Verde Islands shows a chance for development.
