JSU’s Tomekia Reed named Charlotte’s new head coach
SUMMARY: Tomekia Reed, head coach of Jackson State Women’s Basketball team, has stepped down to take on the role of head coach for the Charlotte 49ers Women’s Basketball team. Reed led Jackson State to their third SWAC championship and a spot in the NCAA tournament during her six-year tenure. UNC Charlotte Chancellor Sharon L. Gaber praised Reed as a talented coach with a commitment to excellence. Jackson State University officials thanked Reed for her success, which included five consecutive regular-season titles and four SWAC Coach of The Year awards. Reed leaves Jackson State with an overall record of 125-54, including three consecutive 20+ win seasons.
