JPS fires, suspends staff involved in testing irregularities
SUMMARY: The Mississippi Department of Education has instructed the Jackson Public School District to conduct an internal investigation into testing irregularities during the 2023 MAAP testing. As a result, the district has taken personnel actions with over 40 staff members, including terminations, suspensions, and letters of reprimand. The findings have been submitted to the MDE for further review. The district has identified seven schools with testing irregularities, with four schools having isolated incidents and three schools experiencing more pronounced irregularities. JPS officials have stated that they are committed to maintaining integrity and accountability and will implement additional measures to ensure testing security in the future.

1 arrested, 1 wanted after carjacking ends in wreck in Jackson
SUMMARY: In Jackson, Mississippi, police arrested one suspect and are searching for another after a carjacking incident that occurred on September 20.
