Jones County inmates hear from reformed felon
SUMMARY: Today, inmates at Jones County Jail were inspired by four influential speakers who emphasized the importance of rehabilitation after incarceration. Former inmate Ketina Campbell shared her journey of turning her life around after serving five years for grand theft. Now a licensed nurse and childcare facility owner, she encourages inmates to see beyond their current circumstances. With over 70 inmates in attendance, the speakers, including a comedian and a meditation coach, highlighted the message of hope and reintegration into society. Campbell emphasized that past mistakes do not have to define one’s future, fostering optimism among the inmates.

SUMMARY: The Department of Justice has initiated a civil rights investigation into the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department following the arrest and sentencing of multiple deputies for the sexual assault and brutal assault of two Black men in Morton. In response, the Sheriff’s Office stated via Facebook that they aim to enhance their transparency during this inquiry.

SUMMARY: Transformers One is set to open this weekend, and local nonprofit Reconnect for Autism is hosting a sensory-friendly screening for children and adults with autism. The special screening will feature adjusted lighting and sound, along with play areas featuring Legos, allowing attendees to move freely in a judgment-free zone. The event will take place this Saturday at the Corinth Malco, with doors opening at 9:00 AM and the movie starting at 9:30 AM—no sign-up necessary.
