Jones County honors fallen deputy on anniversary of death
SUMMARY: Today is the anniversary of Deputy Sheriff Glenn Randall Chancellor’s death in 2001. He was killed in the line of duty at the age of 48 when his patrol cruiser was hit by a drunk driver. The driver was sentenced to prison, house arrest, and probation. Deputy Chancellor was responding to a call when his cruiser was struck head-on by the drunk driver on State Route 537. He was a husband and father, leaving behind a grieving family and friends. The Jones County Sheriff’s Department asks that we remember Deputy Chancellor, his loved ones, and the sacrifice he made while serving his community.

Hattiesburg names city's first poet laureate
