Clerical error causes duplicate absentee ballots for some voters in Athens
SUMMARY: The director of the Athens-Clark County Elections Department attributed a clerical error for sending a second absentee ballot to approximately 725 voters. The mistake originated from issues with their mailing list. However, the department reassures that the statewide election system prevents voters from casting more than one ballot. Director Charlotte Sby stated that they are reaching out to each affected voter via expedited mail, email, or phone to clarify the situation and provide guidance on the absentee ballots.
