January is National Blood Donor Month! In 1969, President Richard Nixon signed a proclamation designating the first month of the year as National Blood Donor Month.
It’s an opportunity to recognize the roughly three percent of the U.S. population who donates blood each year.
Blood donation is key to keeping people alive and healthy. Hospitals everywhere use blood, often in emergency situations and pre-scheduled procedures.
