Jackson State awarded $7 million in grants from U.S. Department of Education
SUMMARY: Jackson State University (JSU) has received over $7m in grants from the US Department of Education. The funds will be used to improve academic outcomes for school-age children in neighbouring school systems. JSU’s Associate Vice President of Student Success, Mitchell Shears, authored four of the five grants that will include intensive math and science education and year-round tutoring for high school students via the Upward Bound program. The final grant, written by JSU’s Associate Provost for Academic Affairs Brandi Newkirk-Turner, will train graduate students to improve literacy outcomes for children with disabilities.

SUMMARY: A Facebook friend suggested I should diversify my media sources, hinting that my reliance on Fox News limits my perspective. Although I lean conservative, I read various outlets, including the NYT and BBC, to avoid echo chambers. Liberals struggle to understand my support for Trump, but I have legitimate concerns about cultural and governance issues impacting future generations. Media, particularly the NYT, displays significant anti-Trump bias, yet I still seek their viewpoints. The media landscape is shifting, with conservative voices gaining prominence through podcasts and new outlets. Despite a liberal-dominated journalism industry, I maintain a balanced media diet.

SUMMARY: Mississippi State dropped to No. 24, and Ole Miss fell out of the top 25 as both teams face tough Southeastern Conference challenges. CBSB: Mississippi State stays put at No. 18, Ole Miss and Southern Miss make top-25 debut
