Jackson police will receive new license plate readers

North Carolina child found in Mississippi, man arrested
SUMMARY: A 12-year-old girl, reported missing from North Carolina, was found in Mississippi on October 2. Carroll County deputies, alongside the FBI, located her in an 18-wheeler at a truck stop in Vaiden. The driver, 35-year-old Randy Donovan Taylor from South Carolina, was arrested and charged with possessing child pornography and lustful touching. Sheriff Clint Walker praised the collaborative efforts of various law enforcement agencies in safely returning the child after her abduction on September 29. Taylor is facing multiple federal, state, and local charges and is currently held at the Carroll County Regional Correctional Facility.

Trial date set for man accused of killing JSU student on campus in 2022
SUMMARY: The trial for Randall Smith, accused of murdering Jackson State University (JSU) student Flynn Brown, is scheduled to begin on November 4, 2024, at the Hinds County Courthouse. Three Monroe Co. men pled guilty to multiple charges
