Councilman Vernon Hartley’s proposal to incorporate parts of downtown to balance the population faced opposition from Councilwoman Virgi Lindsay. Hartley argues this would evenly distribute about 20,000 people per ward. Lindsay insists on protecting her ward’s integrity as long as the numbers justify it. City Council President Aaron Banks aims to mediate and refocus on constituents’ needs. The council must finalize redistricting before next month’s municipal elections, with public hearings to follow.

He attributes his success to his faith, stating, “a higher power” has guided him throughout his life.

Bobby Wood is the latest artist to get a marker on the Mississippi Country Music Trail.

Police names teen struck and killed by train in New Albany
