The complex, home to mainly senior citizens and disabled veterans, has unpaid water bills totaling nearly $150,000, with the last payment made in February 2017. Residents, who pay their water bills through rent, were unaware of the issue. Audwin Reese, a Navy veteran, expressed disappointment and concern for his neighbors. Hinds County District 2 Supervisor Tony Smith, upon visiting, noted poor living conditions, including maintenance issues and sewage problems. JXN Water cut off the service after unsuccessfully attempting to collect the overdue payments.
