'I've had enough': Florida homeowners selling flooded homes 'as is' for investors
SUMMARY: Tampa Bay homeowners, particularly in flood-prone areas like Shore Acres, are increasingly selling their damaged properties as-is due to repeated flooding. Many are walking away after facing multiple disasters, with some homes listed significantly below purchase prices. For instance, one homeowner, who bought a property for $575,000, is now selling it for $425,000 after three floods in two years. Real estate listings emphasize cash-only deals for investors. Despite the losses, some homeowners are finding relief in moving on, while investors are actively purchasing these properties, seeking opportunities in the distressed market.
Since Helene and Milton, dozens of homes have hit the market. Homeowners are selling ‘AS IS’ and ‘CASH ONLY’ for investors, ready and willing to walk away after being flooded in the storms.

SUMMARY: A father and lineman returning home to Zephyr Hills after long hours aiding power restoration faced heartbreak, discovering severe flooding in his homeโan issue he fears will recur. His house, once a happy sanctuary, was inundated with multiple feet of water, rendering it almost a total loss. Neighbors also experienced flooding, highlighting ongoing drainage problems exacerbated by local development. Shelby and seven other affected homeowners feel neglected, receiving little assistance from local authorities. Despite the emotional toll, a spokesperson from Pasco County promised intervention with pump trucks, though none had arrived at the time of the report.
Shelby Lovell’s homecoming should have been a happy one after weeks spent away from his Zephyrhills home. Instead, almost two weeks after Milton, he found his home still surrounded by floodwater.
