Israel says Iran 'will pay for' missile airstrikes after killing of Hezbollah leader
SUMMARY: Israel is preparing a counterattack after intercepting nearly 200 ballistic missiles fired by Iran, with no reported deaths from the strikes. Iran warned that this attack was just the first wave. The U.S. military supported Israel by joining air defense operations, successfully thwarting most missiles, though some still caused fires. The U.S. has deemed the missile attack “defeated and ineffective” and is closely monitoring the situation for further threats, particularly to protect its 40,000 military personnel in the region. Israel has pledged to retaliate against Iran for the recent missile strikes, indicating escalating tensions.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised that arch foe Iran would pay for its missile attack against Israel on Tuesday, while Tehran said any retaliation would be met with “vast destruction”, raising fears of a wider war.
