SUMMARY: Israel and Hezbollah have reached a ceasefire deal after nearly a year of fighting, brokered by the US. The agreement requires the IDF to withdraw from Lebanon, while Hezbollah will move north. Lebanon’s Army and UN peacekeepers will create a buffer zone along the border. The ceasefire will take effect at 4 a.m. local time. The conflict began after Hezbollah retaliated against Hamas’s October 7th attacks, leading to Israel’s offensive in southern Lebanon. While the ceasefire aims to end hostilities, Israeli officials warn that any violation by Hezbollah will prompt immediate retaliation. Meanwhile, fighting continues in Gaza.
