Irving pediatric assistant who inappropriately touched boys showed 'pattern of behavior,' police say
SUMMARY: Angel Nunes, a former medical assistant at Little Spurs Pediatrics in Irving, has been arrested for a second charge of indecency with a child. The latest allegation involves a 9-year-old boy, whom Nunes reportedly took to an exam room away from his mother to perform an unauthorized genitalia test. Nunes, 25, was initially charged on September 5 for fondling a 14-year-old, after which he posted a $100,000 bond. Following the new charge, his bond increased to $300,000. Police believe there may be more victims, as Nunes has a documented pattern of inappropriate behavior with minors.
The 25-year-old is not — and never has been — a physician. His duties were to take vitals. However, police say he used his position to inappropriately touch young boys. The most recent allegation involves a 9-year-old.

Texas lawmaker makes push to remove death penalty in the state | FOX 7 Austin
SUMMARY: Williamson County Representative John Bucy advocates for abolishing the death penalty in Texas, citing both financial and moral concerns. He has filed a bill to end executions, arguing that it costs more to execute someone than to imprison them. This follows a Texas Supreme Court decision to move forward with Robert Robertson’s execution, despite claims of his innocence based on updated science. Since 1982, Texas has executed nearly 600 people, the most in the U.S. While death sentences have declined in recent years, Bucy believes growing public awareness of wrongful convictions may change attitudes toward the death penalty.
A Central Texas lawmaker is making a push to get the state to abolish the death penalty.

12 'extremely emaciated' python snakes rescued from Oak Forest apartment in NW Houston, Pct. 1 says
SUMMARY: The Houston SPCA responded to a unique case involving a dozen neglected ball pythons discovered in plastic bins on a balcony. The snakes, emaciated and suffering from hypothermia, were removed from their inadequate living conditions. Two have already died, while the remaining ten are in critical condition. Veterinarian Dr. Roberta Westbrook is working to stabilize them. The owner voluntarily surrendered the snakes after deputies arrived, but it’s unclear if he was a breeder or collector. Regardless, he will not regain custody of the animals, which will be placed in suitable homes if they recover. The case has been turned over to the DA’s office.
12 neglected pythons were rescued from an apartment complex in the Oak Forest area, Harris County Pct. 1 constable said. Two later died.

Some Spurs fans share mixed feelings toward proposed downtown arena, entertainment district
SUMMARY: City leaders discuss plans for a new arena for the Spurs, which could cost billions, but they don’t intend to burden general taxpayers. Spurs fans have mixed feelings; while many are excited about potential downtown development, concerns about parking and congestion in the proposed area persist. During a recent game, fans expressed loyalty to the team, stating they would follow the Spurs to a new venue despite uncertainties about logistics. Some season ticket holders are reconsidering their packages over the changes, yet most remain devoted supporters, confident the new arena will benefit San Antonio.
Several Spurs fans spoke to KSAT on Thursday hours after the City of San Antonio released its proposal for a new basketball arena and entertainment district.
