Apalachee High School shooting victim comes home | FOX 5 News
SUMMARY: Three days after a deadly shooting at Appalache High School, local business owner Haley Staples is making t-shirts to support the family of injured student Melanie Garcia. Staples, an Appalache graduate, has received about 450 orders in just two days, with $10 from each $20 shirt going to Melanie’s family. Melanie, who underwent two surgeries after being shot in the shoulder, is coming home from the hospital today. Staples shares that Melanie is eager to reunite with her siblings, who also attend the school. The community’s overwhelming support has been encouraging as they navigate this tragic incident.
Melany Garcia, a freshman at Apalachee High School is finally coming home days after the devastating shooting. Meanwhile, a woman from her community organized a t-shirt fundraiser to help out with Garcia’s medical bills.

Survivor recovering from Apalachee shooting speaks out
SUMMARY: A survivor of the Appalache High School shooting, 14-year-old Ronaldo Vega, recounted his harrowing experience during the incident. The GBI reported that nine people were hospitalized, including one teacher and six students. Vega, who was taking cover in his classroom, narrowly escaped being shot while en route to the restroom. He described hiding under his desk as shots rang out, eventually closing the door to protect his classmates. Tragically, two classmates, Mason Shermerhorn and Chrisan Angula, along with teachers Richard Aspenwall and Christina Iry, were killed. The community has since shown strong support, with tributes from various schools and a moment of silence at a Georgia Bulldogs game.
