Invest 97L update: Tropical depression more likely for Gulf of Mexico
SUMMARY: The National Hurricane Center is monitoring tropical activity, particularly a system labeled Invest 97 in the Gulf with an 80% chance of development. Warm ocean waters could fuel its growth as it moves between the Yucatan Peninsula and Cuba, potentially affecting the Florida Panhandle. Currently, while spaghetti models present varied outcomes, it’s too early to predict the exact strength or path, with forecasts ranging from a minimal hurricane to a Category 3. A clearer picture of impacts may emerge by Monday or Tuesday, but for now, residents are advised to enjoy the good weather while it lasts.
Time to keep an eye on the tropics as system 97L’s chance of formation rises to 80% in the next seven days. New models show possible tracks of the system.

One FL county confirms 2 cases of locally acquired dengue fever
SUMMARY: Pasco County has confirmed two local cases of dengue fever, particularly in the western area north of Ridge Road. Adrienne Rogers from the Pasco County Mosquito Control District emphasizes the importance of eliminating standing water, which can serve as breeding sites for the dengue-carrying mosquito. These mosquitoes prefer to live near humans and thrive in habitats created by human activities. The County is implementing a comprehensive response, as dengue can often be asymptomatic, though symptoms include fever, headaches, and rash. To protect against dengue, it’s vital to cover skin, use DEET insect repellent, and eliminate water-holding objects.
The Pasco County Mosquito Control District (PCMCD) reported the cases on Tuesday but advised the public that there is a heightened risk of more cases.
