Interview: Tupelo Police Athletic League hosting multiple summer camps
SUMMARY: Tupelo police are increasing efforts to keep kids active and off the streets this summer by hosting various summer camps. Captain Katasha White highlighted several upcoming camps, including basketball, baseball, and archery. The basketball camp, set to begin soon, features a one-day camp for boys and girls entering fourth and fifth grade, as well as separate camps for both boys and girls. The baseball camp, scheduled for July 16-18, is for ages 8 to 12 and offers 20 slots. An archery camp, tailored for fifth and sixth graders, runs from July 23-25. These camps aim to build community relationships and engage youth in positive activities.

Edwards church honors graduate with scholarship
SUMMARY: Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Edwards held an educational scholarship service in honor of Kendriana Armstrong, a Raymond High School graduate set to attend Jack State University. The scholarship was established by the Willis family to honor their late father, Arthur Willis, an educator who passed away years ago. Elaine Willis, his daughter, mentioned the family's desire to continue her father's legacy of positive influence. The church and Pastor fully supported the initiative. Kendriana, a long-time church member, was recognized for her achievements, including placing second in a summer STEM program, and praised for her kindness and strong Christian background.

Kenneth Gainwell hosts 3rd annual camp
SUMMARY: Kenneth Gainwell, an NFL running back for the Philadelphia Eagles, hosted his third annual free camp at his alma mater, Yazoo County. The event welcomed young athletes from grade school to high school, offering them a chance to train and improve their skills. Yazoo County, a small town with a population under 10,000, has produced big-time talent such as Gainwell, Fletcher Cox, Willie Brown, and Ben Williams. Pontotoc County 4-H holds beef show
SUMMARY: Despite the heat, local buckaroos are competing in the Pon Talk County 4-H Livestock Show. To keep everyone cool, extra fans, water faucets, and ice have been added. Livestock Show Chairman T. Stal mentions that the high temperatures have reduced participant numbers, alongside two other concurrent shows. Nonetheless, 4-H members remain undeterred as they work hard all year for this event. Stal emphasizes the program's importance, highlighting its role in helping kids develop as well-rounded individuals who learn respect, responsibility, and business skills. The event also features a Dominoes tournament, a cornhole tournament, and an 8 PM rodeo.
