Interview: S.A.F.E. Inc. always appreciative of donations to help domestic violence victims

SUMMARY: Dr. Zoe Shanks, executive director of Safe Incorporated, highlights the urgent need for at the 45-year-old nonprofit dedicated to assisting domestic abuse survivors in Northeast Mississippi. As the only crisis center in the region, Safe also shelters pets through a new partnership with the Humane Society. With a recent $50,000 donor offer, they seek to match funds by the end of September. Currently, $11,500 has been raised. Donations of any amount can support initiatives, housing for 45 homeless individuals, enabling Safe to essential services and a “hand up, not a hand out.”

Escapee captured, ending manhunt

SUMMARY: The manhunt for 26-year-old Jaccory Carr, an escapee from the Wilkinson County Jail, has officially ended with his capture, announced on social . Carr, a pre-trial detainee facing charges of murder and aggravated assault, escaped around 7:30 PM last night. Authorities have reached out to Capitol for more information but have not yet received a response.

Town of Sumrall has several public projects under way at same time

Perry County School District sees rank bump up a grade
