Interview: Oren Dunn City Museum event to showcase ‘1776’ by David McCullough

SUMMARY: The Brown Bag History Book Club is meeting this week at the Oron Dun City Museum, focusing on David McCullough’s “1776.” Assistant Museum Curator Carlos Diaz explained the club aims to bring history enthusiasts together to discuss significant books. “1776” was chosen due to its detailed depiction of the Declaration of Independence and its historical context, as the U.S. nears its 250th anniversary. The club, started a year ago from a volunteer’s suggestion, features both fiction and non-fiction titles. This month’s meeting will be held on Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with the book available at the Lee County Library and on Audible.

The event is scheduled for July 17 at the Oren Dunn City Museum in Tupelo.
