Interview: Forks & Corks fundraiser set for July 27 in Starkville
SUMMARY: “Forks and Corks,” an annual restaurant competition and wine-tasting event in Starkville, is fast approaching. Program Coordinator Juliet Reed explains that SAAC, a local nonprofit active for over 25 years, offers free or low-cost arts programming for all ages, including the Cotton District Arts Festival. SUMMARY: Clinton police are investigating a fatal shooting near Northside Drive and Briers Drive. A man in his 30s was shot and died at the scene, according to the interim Hinds County coroner. Neighbors reported hearing gunfire before 10 a.m. and suspected a shootout between two people. During the incident, one vehicle crashed into a gas line near North Ridge Apartments, causing a gas leak. A resident was warned to evacuate for safety. Atmos Energy and the Clinton Fire Department addressed the leak. No arrests have been made so far in connection with the shooting.
