Alleged Tren de Aragua members deported, Alien Enemies Act ruling sparks debate
SUMMARY: A federal judge recently debated President Trump’s ruling that temporarily halted deportation flights for alleged migrant criminals, including alleged Tren de Aragua gang members. The administration argues for using the 200-year-old Alien Enemies Act for deportations. On Saturday, the judge blocked deportations under this law and ordered the government to redirect planes in transit. Trump criticized the judiciary’s authority, asserting that he deserves the power to expel undesirable migrants. GOP lawmakers are preparing legislation to limit judicial overreach. The case highlights tensions around executive authority, immigration policy, and judicial constraints amidst a crackdown on gang-related migrants in the U.S.

Video showing alleged gang members arriving at a detention facility in El Salvador is at the center of a debate over President Trump’s deportations. The Trump Administration removed the migrants under the Alien Enemies Act.
