SUMMARY: Good afternoon, South Mississippi. The National Hurricane Center is monitoring a new area of disturbed weather in the Gulf of Mexico, which is expected to bring significant rainfall to Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. While it’s not projected to develop into a tropical system, up to 5 inches of rain may occur. Additionally, a tropical wave in the Atlantic has a medium chance of development over the next week as it moves toward the Caribbean. Global models suggest it could approach Cuba by next weekend. There are currently no imminent threats to the U.S., but keep an eye out for updates.
