Mississippi State University veterinary students are assisting in the recovery process by conducting initial examinations, blood work, and monitoring the turtles’ health. Cold-stunned turtles often experience pneumonia and frostbite, requiring personalized treatment plans, including fluids and antibiotics. The students gain invaluable experience that will aid their future careers while fostering a commitment to environmental conservation. Once rehabilitated, the turtles will be released back into Mississippi Sound.
