I-Team: History of Events at the BioLab plant
SUMMARY: The biolab in Rockdale, operational since 1973, has a long history of environmental incidents impacting the community, particularly along Interstate 20. Investigations reveal that the facility has caused numerous highway shutdowns and evacuations due to toxic chemical emissions. Notable incidents include a significant evacuation in 2004 affecting 500 residents and multiple events in the following years resulting in property damage and health risks for workers and first responders. The Environmental Protection Agency has documented these hazardous fumes over the past two decades, raising concerns about regulatory compliance and the impact on public safety and the environment.
