Lawmakers approve emergency election plan in Iberville Parish | Louisiana
SUMMARY: The Bayou Grosse Tรชte drawbridge in Iberville Parish, closed for repairs after a vessel strike, has prompted lawmakers to approve a new polling location due to access issues. The bridge’s closure could require around 210 voters to travel over an hour to vote. Secretary of State Nancy Landry presented a plan to add a second polling site at the Bayou Blue fire station, affecting about 500 voters. Legislators ensured voter integrity by adjusting polling books to restrict voting to residents of each area. This emergency plan applies only to the November election and may incur no extra cost to taxpayers.
