Hurricane Milton sucks water out of Tampa Bay
SUMMARY: A drone recording in the ocean captures the immense strength of winds from Hurricane Milton, which have reached Category 3 levels, generating massive waves. As a result, a phenomenon similar to what occurred during Hurricane Irma in 2017 is happening again: the winds are causing a reverse storm surge in Tampa Bay, sucking the water out. Reporter Brian Inon reports from the shoreline, showing that the bay is nearly empty. Tampa Bay officials have issued a warning advising against walking into the receding water, cautioning that it will return with the storm surge.
Officials cautioned against taking a walk in the bay as they said that the water will return to the bay during storm surge.

Lead pipes are still an issue in Memphis, new EPA new rule aims to change that
SUMMARY: Lead exposure has irreversible effects, notably impacting neurodevelopment in children and contributing to issues like lower IQ scores and stunted growth. The EPA has mandated that cities replace lead pipes within ten years to improve water safety. Memphis, working since the 1950s to replace its lead service lines, is progressing slowly, particularly in older neighborhoods. The Biden Administration’s new rule includes more rigorous testing to protect against lead exposure, as children are more vulnerable. Parents are advised to test their homes for lead, use cold water for drinking, and consult doctors if exposure is suspected.
Lower IQ scores in children, stunted development and increased blood pressure in adults are just some of the effects of lead exposure. Memphis has been trying to solve the problem for decades. MLGW stopped using lead service lines in the 1950s. The utility company has been working on replacing pipes since then, but progress is slow.
