SUMMARY: Hurricane Milton has caused nearly a dozen deaths in Florida and left extensive damage in its wake. It knocked out power for over 3 million homes, flooded barrier islands, and triggered a deadly tornado outbreak, particularly in St. Lucie County where six fatalities occurred. The hurricane hit as a category 3 storm, generating winds over 100 mph and causing significant destruction. Rescue efforts are ongoing, with over 700 rescues executed in Hillsborough County, including a 14-year-old boy and a man stranded at sea. Federal officials are assuring aid for storm victims but emphasize the need for additional recovery funding.

Hurricane Milton is responsible for nearly a dozen deaths in Florida. The storm is gone now, but it could be years for those impacted by this storm and Hurricane Helene to recover.
