Hurricane Milton | Latest track, 5pm update for Oct. 7, 2024
SUMMARY: Chief meteorologist Chris Hul reports that a powerful Category 5 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 180 mph is currently moving through the Gulf of Mexico, just north of the Yucatan Peninsula. It is expected to approach Tampa, Florida, with potential landfall late Wednesday night into early Thursday. While the storm may weaken to a Category 4 or 3 due to wind shear before landfall, it remains a significant threat. Pilots bring much needed relief to NC post-Helene | FOX 5 News
SUMMARY: In the wake of Hurricane Helen’s devastation across several Southern states, relief workers are tirelessly delivering essential supplies. Angel Flight Soars, based in Atlanta, has played a key role, flying over 15 tons of relief aid to affected areas, including Georgia and the Carolinas. Their volunteer pilots are committed to serving communities in need, carrying vital supplies like water, diapers, and personal care items. On one mission, they also provided hot meals, a welcome change for many survivors. Although assistance is concentrated on areas hardest hit by Hurricane Helen, attention may shift depending on the impact of Hurricane Milton in Florida.
More than a week after Hurricane Helene hit the south causing mass destruction in Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas, relief workers continue to get supplies where it’s needed most.

BioLab chemical disaster: New guidance on day 8 | FOX 5 News

In the fallout of the BioLab chemical disaster, Rockdale County officials have new guidance for the public Monday night. It’s now been eight days since the chemical plant first caught fire. Amid health concerns officials have scaled back the nightly shelter-in-place.

Hurricane Milton | Track, latest updates
SUMMARY: A strengthening hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico has reached wind speeds of 180 mph, approaching the Yucatan Peninsula and on track to make landfall in Florida by Wednesday evening. It may weaken to a category 4 or 3 hurricane, but will still deliver significant winds and rain. Hurricane watches and tropical storm warnings extend to the Georgia coast, though direct impacts there will be minimal. Meanwhile, a cold front will bring cooler, drier weather to Atlanta, with highs in the upper 70s and morning temperatures dropping into the 50s. The region will remain mostly sunny over the next week.
